Opened 27 October 2026
The Cape Town EDITION opened on 27 October 2026 at Quay 7 on the V&A Waterfront, EDITION's African debut. It sits in Cape Town's historic working harbor, overlooking the Waterfront's new superyacht marina and facing Table Mountain.
Neri&Hu designed the hotel with Cape Town-based architects. Its long, low form and pitched rooflines reference the warehouse structures that once stood on the site, and more than six million bricks were laid by hand. The Drum, a cylindrical space open to the elements above, sits at the center, with a spiraling staircase to an outdoor viewing platform. The operator counts the rooms two ways: 142 rooms and 27 suites on the hotel page, and 142 guestrooms and suites in the press release. The 240-square-meter Penthouse and the 112-square-meter Harbour Suite crown the hotel.
Shale is the signature restaurant, with meat dry-aged in-house and a predominantly South African wine list. EAVE is the rooftop restaurant and bar beside the heated pool, and Punch Room serves punches in bowls for sharing. The spa sits below sea level, with five treatment rooms and a couples' suite, and uses Omorovicza formulations. A gym is open 24 hours.
The operator's wording, “The Cape Town EDITION is now open, welcoming guests as of October 27, 2026.”, was read on its own page and last checked 31 October 2026.
