Hotel The Mitsui Hakone will open on 15 December 2026, the date on the hotel's own site. Marriott's openings page gave only the fourth quarter. It is the second Hotel The Mitsui, after the Kyoto hotel, and it sits in Fuji-Hakone-Izu National Park on land once home to the private villa retreats of the Mitsui family. The operator's announcement names Mitsui Fudosan Resort Management as the operating company and does not mention Marriott or The Luxury Collection.
All 126 rooms, suites and villas will have a private bath of hot spring water from the hotel's own spring. The guest rooms come in four categories: 43 Deluxe Rooms of 48 square meters, 30 Premier Rooms, 14 Grand Rooms and 22 Onsen Garden Rooms. Their balconies look onto Mount Sengen. Yabu Pushelberg designed the interiors.
Dinner at SANKEI will be kaiseki, sushi or teppanyaki, led by Executive Chef Hiroyuki Kurosu, who previously earned One MICHELIN Star for three consecutive years. RIVERINE will serve all day and The Bar LAMBENT will open at 15:00. The operator says the restaurants and spa treatments are for hotel guests only. The spa will have five treatment rooms, and the Thermal Spring will have indoor and outdoor hot spring baths.
From Odawara Station it is about 50 minutes to Kowakidani Station on the Hakone Tozan Railway, then a two-minute walk. The operator gives about two hours by taxi from Haneda Airport. The Grand Tour package, one night here and one at Hotel The Mitsui Kyoto, costs ¥1,200,000 per room for two guests in the suite type and ¥3,210,000 in the top suite type, with taxes and service charge included.
