Nekajui, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve, was announced as officially open in Marriott's release of 25 February 2025, on Peninsula Papagayo in Costa Rica's Guanacaste province. Marriott calls it the first Ritz-Carlton Reserve in Central and South America and the brand's eighth. Mohari Hospitality and Gencom own the resort, which The Athens Group developed. The hotel page gives the address as the end of the 253 National Route, 35 km from Daniel Oduber Quiros International Airport, with no shuttle service.

The resort has 107 rooms, suites and treetop tents, plus 36 private residences of two to five bedrooms. Guest rooms start at 872 square feet, and Villa Guayacan is a 10-bedroom retreat. The art collection runs to more than 550 pieces. Puna, the signature restaurant, is led by Chef Diego Muñoz, and the hotel page also lists Niri Beach Club among its venues. The release names the spa Nimbu and puts it at 27,000 square feet with a hydrotherapy pool, while the hotel page calls it Naku and gives hours of 8:00 AM to 7:00 PM by appointment. The 250-acre Outpost at Palmares Preserve encircles the resort, and Peninsula Papagayo has a private 18-hole Arnold Palmer Signature course.

“Nestled within one of the world’s most biodiverse destinations, Nekajui, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve, has officially opened its doors, offering discerning travelers a secluded, ultra-luxury retreat amidst the unspoiled natural beauty of Costa Rica’s Peninsula Papagayo.”
