Wilderness Chitabe reopened in April 2025 after a rebuild of its guest suites. Wilderness said on 22 November 2024 that the camp would close in January 2025 for the complete rebuild of its tented suites, and a release dated 13 April 2025 says it has reopened. The camp had run for nearly three decades before the work.

It sits in the private NG31 concession of 22,000 hectares in Botswana's Okavango Delta, bordering Moremi Game Reserve between the Gomoti Channel and the Santantadibe River. Wilderness's release counts eight guest suites, now double the size of the old ones and raised on steel frames, with insulated canvas walls, stretch-tented roofs and evaporative air coolers that it puts at 90% more efficient than air conditioning. The camp page lists rooms of 113 square metres and its FAQ counts nine suites, so the suite number differs between pages. Chitabe Lediba, a five-tent camp in the same concession, was to stay open during the work.

Guests fly with Wilderness Air from Maun, a flight of about 30 minutes, then take a 40-minute transfer from Chitabe Airstrip. Fully inclusive rates for 2026 and 2027 run from USD 1,809 to USD 3,595 per person per night and cover meals, twice-daily activities, park fees, laundry and local drinks, apart from premium imported brands and champagne.

“This legendary camp has reopened following an extensive and carefully considered rebuild that enhances its sustainability, comfort, and immersive safari experience”
