Alila Sengokuhara Hakone

Rendering: Hyatt

Opens in 2028

Alila Sengokuhara Hakone is scheduled to open in 2028 and will be the first Alila hotel in Japan. Hyatt announced it on June 29, 2026, as part of an agreement with Fujita Corporation, and gives only the year.

It will stand in Sengokuhara, a highland district of Hakone inside Fuji-Hakone-Izu National Park, which Hyatt describes for its mineral-rich hot springs, open grasslands, forested ridges, art museums and views toward Mt. Kintoki, and for the pampas grass fields in autumn.

Kengo Kuma and Associates are the architects. The built forms will follow the changes in ground level across the site, so the surrounding forest and mountains become part of the stay. There will be 60 guestrooms, 11 of them suites, and each has a private natural hot spring bath. Plans also include a yoga deck set in the landscape and a restaurant and bar serving seasonal menus drawn from nearby fields, forests and seas.

The operator's wording, “Scheduled to open in 2028 as part of an agreement with Fujita Corporation”, was read on its own page and last checked 31 October 2026.
