Opens in 2027
Mandarin Oriental Cristallo, Cortina will be the group's first Alpine resort. The operator's hotel page gives the opening as early 2027, and its release of 6 October 2026 repeats 2027. The group's June 2022 announcement had said winter 2026.
The building is the Hotel Cristallo, opened in 1901 by Emilia and Giuseppe Menardi. It has been restored and given a contemporary extension designed by Herzog & de Meuron. Funds managed by Attestor Limited bought the property in 2021, and Mandarin Oriental signed a long term management agreement with Attestor in 2022. The address is Via Rinaldo Menardi 42, Cortina d'Ampezzo. The 2022 release described the property as sitting above the most recognized mountain village in the Dolomites, a short walk from Cortina d'Ampezzo, and about an hour and a half by car from Venice Marco Polo Airport.
The press kit of 2 October 2026 lists 84 rooms, including 30 suites, many with private balconies or terraces facing the Dolomites. The 2022 release said 83. A collection of restaurants and bars celebrates Italian flavours, and the spa has an indoor and outdoor swimming pool, treatment rooms and a fitness centre. The hotel page names no restaurants and lists no rates.
The kit also records that Frank Sinatra reserved the entire hotel in 1962 while filming Von Ryan's Express, and that the Cristallo was one of the settings for The Pink Panther the following year.
The operator's wording, “Nicola is delighted to become General Manager of Mandarin Oriental's first Alpine resort, which is scheduled to open in Cortina in 2027.”, was read on its own page and last checked 31 October 2026.
