Opens in 2027
Mandarin Oriental, Rome is scheduled to open in 2027, the date the operator gave in a release of 17 May 2024 and repeated on 16 July and 6 October 2026.
The hotel will occupy 19th-century villas, built as homes for prosperous Romans and set in landscaped gardens between Via Piemonte and Via Sallustiana, within the Gardens of Sallust. The May 2024 release counts nine villas, while a group strategy release in October 2024 says ten. The villas will hold 108 guestrooms and suites, many of the suites with private gardens and terraces.
Gilles & Boissier will design the interiors and Parc Nouveau the landscape. Merope Asset Management is the project partner. The operator lists six restaurants and bars, including al fresco dining and a stand-alone concept in one of the villas, and names the Mandarin Bar, on a rooftop terrace. The wellness offering will include six treatment rooms, a VIP treatment suite, thermal rooms, a sundeck and large indoor and outdoor pools.
Via Veneto, the Spanish Steps, Trevi Fountain, the Roman Forum and Piazza Navona are described as close at hand. The May 2024 release names no restaurants other than the Mandarin Bar and gives no rates.
The operator's wording, “Mirko is taking on the position of General Manager at Mandarin Oriental, Rome, which is scheduled to open in 2027.”, was read on its own page and last checked 31 October 2026.
