Opens in 2027
Capella Florence is due to open in 2027 and will be Capella's first hotel in Europe. It will have 89 keys, made up of 33 suites and 56 guestrooms, plus 10 residences with a dedicated entrance. The hotel is on Via San Gallo, in the historic and cultural heart of the city, moments from the Piazza della Libertà and the Duomo.
The buildings are a complex of former convents. Capella says the site dates to the 12th century and has been home to the convents of Sant'Agata, San Clemente and Santa Lucia di Camporeggi, hosted artists such as Arcangela Paladini, and served as a military hospital. The Italian firms RPA and De Vita & Schulze are reimagining it, adding new architecture to sensitively restored heritage buildings, with interiors by the French design house Liaigre.
Capella plans two restaurants, one serving Tuscan cuisine and the other Japanese sushi omakase, along with a rooftop bar, a subterranean speakeasy wine vault and Capella's signature Living Room. A 600sqm Capella Spa has a hydro pool, fitness centre and café. An indoor amphitheatre will pay homage to the site's 800-year tradition of creativity and cultural exchange.
